How we ranked them
To make this list an app must offer a real one-time/lifetime purchase, not just a monthly plan. We then weighed: total price, whether a subscription is the default, privacy (bank/account), and what you get for the money.
| App | One-time price | Also sold as a subscription? | No bank / account | Stand-out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bobby | From ~$0.99 | No | Yes | Cheapest, minimal |
| Subby | ~$9.99 | Also 1-year option | Yes | Private, multi-currency |
| TrialBell | $19.99 | No | Yes | Cancel-by + cancellation links |
| Orbit | $24.99+ lifetime | Yes ($12.99/$19.99) | Yes | Magic Import, currencies |
| ReSubs | $36.99+ lifetime | Yes (wk/mo/yr) | No bank linking | iPad/Mac, cloud sync |
Last verified: July 2026. Prices are Apple App Store in-app purchase prices; lifetime tiers vary by region (Orbit lists $24.99 and $39.99; ReSubs $36.99 and $51.99). “Also sold as a subscription” means the app additionally offers recurring plans.
Bobby & Subby
Best for: a private list for the lowest one-time cost.
Bobby unlocks from about $0.99 and Subby is around $9.99. Both are private, no-bank iPhone trackers with renewal reminders. Neither app’s public listing highlights a free-trial cancel-by workflow or built-in cancellation links. See Subby alternatives.
TrialBell
Best for: pay-once plus real free-trial protection.
TrialBell costs more than Bobby or Subby, once, and does more: cancel-by dates with a lead and final-day alert, 42 direct cancellation links, 130 templates, bill tracking and spending insights. No subscription, ever.
Orbit & ReSubs
Best for: people who want import or Mac/iPad and will pay more for a lifetime tier.
Orbit’s lifetime ($24.99+) adds Magic Import and 30+ currencies; ReSubs’ lifetime ($36.99+) adds iPad/Mac and cloud sync. Both also sell subscriptions, so check you’re buying the lifetime option. ReSubs’ privacy label lists tracking identifiers and cloud sync — a different posture than a fully on-device app. See TrialBell vs Orbit and TrialBell vs ReSubs.
Methodology & limitations
Based on official App Store listings (and the TrialBell app). We didn’t test each app hands-on, so features reflect what’s advertised. Prices are App Store prices and can change or vary by region. No single app is “best for everyone” — the cheapest isn’t the most capable, and the most capable isn’t the cheapest.
