How we ranked them
For “simple” we weighed: how fast you can add a subscription, whether it avoids bank connections and accounts, whether it stays out of budgeting/dashboards, and price. We note where an app trades a little simplicity for a useful feature.
| App | Simplicity | No bank / account | Extras | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bobby | Most minimal | Yes | Icons, themes | From ~$0.99 once |
| Subby | Very simple | Yes | Multi-currency | ~$9.99 |
| TrialBell | Simple to use | Yes | Cancel-by, cancel links | Free to 3; $19.99 once |
| Orbit | Simple | Yes | Import, currencies | Free; sub or lifetime |
Last verified: July 2026. All four avoid bank connections. “Simplicity” is our read of each app’s scope from its App Store listing, not a measured score.
Bobby & Subby
Best for: the least app that still does the job.
Bobby is a beautiful, bare-bones list with inexpensive one-time unlocks. Subby is similarly simple, private (its App Store privacy label lists only data not linked to you, as of 10 October 2026) and handles multiple currencies. If you truly just want a list and a nudge, start here.
TrialBell
Best for: people who want simple and to never be surprise-charged by a trial.
Adding a subscription in TrialBell takes seconds (129 templates), so it stays simple in daily use — but under the hood it computes the cancel-by date, adds a final-day alert and keeps a cancellation link handy. It’s the pick if “simple” shouldn’t mean “misses a trial.”
Methodology & limitations
“Simple” is subjective and based on each app’s advertised scope, not hands-on testing. The most minimal app isn’t automatically the best — it depends on whether you want protection features or truly just a list. Prices and features can change; confirm on the App Store.
