Five things to know before you cancel
- Where do I cancel? In your Nord Account on the web: Billing → Auto-renewal → Cancel. If you bought through the App Store, Google Play, Amazon or a retailer, that seller handles billing and refunds.
- If I cancel a free trial, am I charged? Not if you cancel before the trial ends. Nord's terms say you keep the paid features until the end of the trial period.
- Does the VPN stop straight away? No. It stays active until the end of the current billing period.
- Can I get my money back? Only on your first purchase, within 30 days. A renewal is not covered unless local law says otherwise; Nord's terms name Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.
- Does deleting my account cancel it? Yes, but do not do that first. Deleting the Nord Account voids the time you have left and makes a refund impossible to process. Ask for the refund, then cancel, then delete. See charged after cancelling.

Step by step
1. Log in to your Nord Account. Go to your Nord Account and sign in with your email address and password. Cancellation happens here, not in the VPN app.
2. Open Billing. Click Billing in the left-hand menu to see all your subscription information.
3. Cancel auto-renewal. In the Auto-renewal section, click Cancel. Auto-renewal is now off and you won't be billed again.
Refunds are a separate request. Turning off auto-renewal stops the next charge — it doesn't refund the current one. NordVPN's 30-day money-back guarantee applies to your initial subscription purchase only: once the subscription renews, it's no longer eligible under that policy unless local law says otherwise. Refund requests go through NordVPN's live chat or support email.
What happens after you cancel
- Your service stays active until the end of the current billing period, then simply stops renewing.
- The guarantee is a first-purchase thing. If you're past your first term, cancelling early doesn't get your money back — you just keep the VPN until the term ends.
- This is exactly the case for a cancel-by reminder. A two-year VPN deal is 24 months of forgetting, and the price on renewal is usually nothing like the introductory one.
Cancel, refund, delete: do them in that order
People search for whether deleting a Nord Account cancels the subscription. It does: NordVPN says deleting the account cancels auto-renewal. But it also throws away whatever service period you have left and leaves nothing for support to refund against.
- Refund first, if you are within 30 days of your first purchase. Contact NordVPN through live chat or email; the refund can take up to 10 business days to reach you.
- Then cancel auto-renewal in Billing, and wait for the confirmation email.
- Delete the account last, and only if you want your data removed too.
