Strava has one rule that catches people out: you have to cancel on the same platform you subscribed on. Cancel in the wrong place and nothing happens. The good news is your training history is never at risk.

Quick steps

  1. Web: profile picture → Settings → My Account → Cancel subscription.
  2. App: You tab → gear icon → Your Strava Subscription → Manage Your Subscription.
  3. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Step by step

1. Work out where you subscribed. Strava is explicit: you must cancel using the same platform where you originally subscribed. If you signed up in the iPhone app, Apple bills you and the cancellation lives in Apple's settings.

2. On the Strava website. Log in, select your profile picture in the top right corner, then go to Settings → My Account → Cancel subscription.

3. In the mobile app. Open Strava, go to the You tab, tap the gear icon to open Settings, then select Your Strava Subscription → Manage Your Subscription.

4. Mind the 24-hour rule. Strava auto-renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Subscribed in the app on an iPhone? Then Apple bills you, and the route is Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Strava → Cancel Subscription. Strava's own website cannot cancel an Apple-billed subscription — this is the single most common reason a Strava cancellation appears not to work.

What happens after you cancel

  • Your data is safe. Strava states that cancelling does not delete any of your uploaded activities or data — you only lose access to subscription features.
  • And it's reversible. Those features are turned back on if you resubscribe later, so cancelling for the off-season is a low-risk move.
  • You keep the benefits until the expiration date shown on your account details page.
  • Refunds: Strava says you may be eligible for a full refund within 14 days of purchase; after 14 days, subscriptions are non-refundable.

Whatever you decide, the useful move is to put the date somewhere that will interrupt you. A cancel-by reminder a couple of days before the renewal turns "I meant to deal with that" into a decision you actually make.

Never miss a renewal again

Frequently asked

Do I lose my Strava activities if I cancel?

No. Strava states that cancelling does not delete any uploaded activities or data. You lose access to subscription features only, and they come back if you resubscribe.

Why didn't my Strava cancellation work?

Almost always because it was cancelled in the wrong place. Strava requires you to cancel on the same platform you subscribed on — if you signed up in the iPhone app, you cancel in Apple's Subscriptions settings, not on strava.com.
