- Where do I cancel? On audible.com under Account details if you joined on the website. In the App Store or Google Play if you joined in the app.
- If I cancel during the free trial, am I charged? Not if you cancel before the trial ends. Audible says a 30-day trial renews automatically at the regular monthly price after 30 days.
- Do I lose access straight away? No. Audible says member benefits last through your final billing cycle.
- What happens to my credits? Unused credits from a website membership are lost. Audible's pages differ on exactly when, so spend them before you cancel. Credits from an App Store or Google Play membership stay.

Step by step
1. Check your credits before you cancel. Open Account details on Audible and look at your credit balance. Whether those credits survive depends on where the membership started — see below. Spend them first if they're going to be cancelled.
2. Cancel from your account details page. Audible's help centre says you can cancel by visiting your account details page on audible.com and adjusting your membership settings and subscription preferences. You can also cancel by contacting Audible Customer Service by phone or chat.
3. Confirm it went through. Audible sends an email confirmation, and your membership status on the Account details page reflects the change.
Signed up in the app? If your membership came through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you cannot cancel it on the Audible website — you cancel through that platform. On iOS: open Settings, select your name, select Subscriptions, select Audible, then Cancel Subscription and confirm.
What happens after you cancel
- Audiobooks you bought with credits are yours to keep. Cancelling doesn't take your library away.
- Credits are where it gets uneven. Credits from a membership started on the Audible website are cancelled when the membership is — including extra credits you bought on the website. But credits from an Audible iOS app or Google Play membership do not expire and stay in your account after cancellation.
- To verify: check for the confirmation email and look at the membership status on your Account details page.
Cancelling during the Audible free trial
The trial runs 30 days and then bills the regular monthly price without asking. You can cancel at any point from your membership details, and cancelling before the 30 days are up avoids the first charge.
Two things to do first. Use the trial credit, because a title bought with a credit is yours to keep and an unused credit is not. And check where you started the trial: one begun in the iPhone app is billed by Apple, and has to be cancelled in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
If you only want a break, Audible also has a pause option. While paused you get no new credits and no included catalogue, but you can still listen to what you bought.
Whatever you decide, the useful move is to put the date somewhere that will interrupt you. A cancel-by reminder a couple of days before the renewal turns "I meant to deal with that" into a decision you actually make.
