Cancelling Audible is straightforward. What catches people is the credits: whether you keep them depends on where you started the membership, and the difference is significant.

Step by step
1. Check your credits before you cancel. Open Account details on Audible and look at your credit balance. Whether those credits survive depends on where the membership started — see below. Spend them first if they're going to be cancelled.
2. Cancel from your account details page. Audible's help centre says you can cancel by visiting your account details page on audible.com and adjusting your membership settings and subscription preferences. You can also cancel by contacting Audible Customer Service by phone or chat.
3. Confirm it went through. Audible sends an email confirmation, and your membership status on the Account details page reflects the change.
Signed up in the app? If your membership came through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you cannot cancel it on the Audible website — you cancel through that platform. On iOS: open Settings, select your name, select Subscriptions, select Audible, then Cancel Subscription and confirm.
What happens after you cancel
- Audiobooks you bought with credits are yours to keep. Cancelling doesn't take your library away.
- Credits are where it gets uneven. Credits from a membership started on the Audible website are cancelled when the membership is — including extra credits you bought on the website. But credits from an Audible iOS app or Google Play membership do not expire and stay in your account after cancellation.
- To verify: check for the confirmation email and look at the membership status on your Account details page.

Do I lose my Audible credits when I cancel?
It depends where the membership started. Credits from a membership started on the Audible website are cancelled when you cancel, as are extra credits bought there. Credits from an Audible iOS app or Google Play membership do not expire and remain in your account.
