1. Note the trial when you start it
The highest-leverage moment is sign-up, while the end date is on screen. Jot down the service and when the trial ends. If you skip this, you're relying on memory weeks later — which is exactly what fails.
2. Find the first-charge date
For a trial you started through the App Store, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions and tap the subscription to see its renewal date. For a trial you started on a company's website, check the confirmation email or your account page there.
3. Work out the last safe cancellation day
Take the first-charge date and subtract a day or two — that's your cancel-by date. The buffer absorbs a busy day, a weekend, or a time-zone quirk in when the charge posts. 4. Set two reminders

5. Cancel in the right place and confirm
Cancel where you subscribed: Settings → Subscriptions for App Store trials, or the provider's website for direct billing. Then confirm — look for a cancellation confirmation or an "expires on" date so you know it went through.
