Cancelling Netflix takes about a minute — once you know whether Netflix bills you directly or through a third party like Apple. Here's both, plus what happens to your access afterward.

Quick steps

On the web (netflix.com):

  1. Click your profile icon (top right) → Account.
  2. Under Membership & Billing, click Cancel Membership.
  3. Click Finish Cancellation.

In the mobile app:

  1. Tap My Netflix (bottom right) → the menu (top right).
  2. Tap AccountCancel Membership.

What happens after you cancel

  • You keep watching until the end of your current billing period.
  • No partial refund. Netflix generally doesn't refund the unused part of the month, so cancelling on your cancel-by date (rather than early) gets you the full month you paid for.
  • Easy to restart. If you rejoin within 10 months, Netflix usually keeps your profiles and settings.

Billed through Apple, Google or a partner? If you started Netflix through the App Store, Google Play, or a mobile/TV provider, Netflix can't cancel it — you cancel with whoever bills you. For Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Netflix → Cancel Subscription. Your Netflix Account page will usually tell you if a third party handles your billing.

Prefer to pause, not cancel?

Netflix doesn't offer a formal pause, but cancelling and rejoining later is effectively that — your history is retained for a while, and you can come back on the same account. Set a reminder for when you want to reconsider so a "temporary" cancel doesn't turn into forgetting you wanted it back.

Never miss a renewal again

TrialBell reminds you before Netflix — or any subscription — renews, and keeps the cancel route handy. Private, on your iPhone, no bank connection. Free for 3 subscriptions; Pro is a one-time $19.99.

Frequently asked

Will I be refunded for the rest of the month?

Generally no — Netflix doesn't refund partial months. You keep access until the period ends, so cancel on your cancel-by date to use the full month.

Can I cancel from a smart TV?

It's easiest on the web or the phone app. If you subscribed through a TV platform or provider, cancel through that provider's account settings.
